In short
- ITR is for musicians aged 13 and over.
- ITR holds nothing about you: no name, no email, no record of the confirmation you gave.
- The account belongs to the musician, and their rights are theirs to use directly.
- A teacher connects only through a code the musician gives them, and reads only what the musician submits.
01
Who ITR is for
In The Rhythm is for musicians aged 13 and over. There is no account for a younger child, and the app does not create one.
02
What you agreed to at signup
A musician under 18 cannot finish signup without confirming that a parent or guardian has read the terms and the privacy policy and agreed that they may use In The Rhythm. That confirmation is a condition of the terms. It is not consent in the data protection sense, and nothing about it is stored.
03
What ITR holds about you
Nothing. No name, no email address, and no record of the confirmation above. ITR has no account for you and no way to reach you.
04
The account belongs to the musician
A 13 to 17 year old's rights under data protection law are theirs to use directly, without a parent. They can ask what ITR holds, get a copy, correct something, complain, or delete the account themselves from Settings, whenever they want. ITR does not give you a view into the account.
05
What a teacher can see, and what they can send
A teacher can only connect through a six-character code the musician generates and gives them. The code expires after 24 hours and works once. Only the musician can generate a new one.
The app tells the musician, at the moment they share that code: your teacher will be able to read every session you submit, including your notes and reflections. Drafts are never shared.
A teacher can set one focus line, up to 200 characters, checked against a word list. Every version of it is kept in a history log for up to 12 months, and it can be reported from the focus card. Everything else a teacher sends is one of 25 fixed phrases. The only other thing of theirs the musician sees is their display name, which is checked for links, handles and phone numbers rather than for wording. There is no direct messaging anywhere in the app.
06
If you want the account closed
The musician can delete it themselves from Settings at any time. Either of you can also email support@intherhythm.org.
Write to support@intherhythm.org. We aim to respond to general support within 5 working days.
